These Genuine Cummins heavy duty exhaust valve springs are required if you plan on running any exhaust brake. Don’t be fouled by aftermarket ones.

If you have a mechanical C8.3L without an exhaust brake, you don’t have strong enough valve springs to effectively hold the exhaust valves close during exhaust braking.
